Questions

Holiday mail, answered.

Prices, timing, lists, photos and Santa. If your question isn’t here, ask us; a person answers.

Everything people ask us.

When should I order?

Early. December is the Postal Service’s busiest month, so we suggest ordering Christmas cards by December 10 and Hanukkah cards about a week before the first night. Cards for the New Year can go a few days later. We mail as soon as your order is printed; a card usually arrives in 7 to 10 business days.

Is it handwritten?

Your message is printed in a handwriting-style font, chosen by you. Nobody writes it with a pen, and we never say otherwise.

Can I send to my whole list at once?

Yes. Type the addresses or upload a spreadsheet, up to 400 cards a list. Each card goes to its own address, and a merge field like {{first_name}} greets each person by name.

What does a holiday card cost?

A 4x6 card is $2 with postage, $1.75 each from 10 cards and $1.50 each from 50. A 6x9 card is $3, $2.75 from 10 and $2.50 from 50. Sales tax where it applies.

Can I use my own family photo?

Yes. Pick a photo design, or put your photo on the whole front. Use a sharp photo; the card tells you if it is too small to print well.

Which holidays do you have cards for?

Christmas, Hanukkah, the New Year or Thanksgiving, plus Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays for every tradition. More are added through the year.

Hanukkah or Chanukah?

Both are right. Our Hanukkah cards say “Happy Hanukkah” and you can change the words to “Happy Chanukah” before you check out.

Is Santa’s letter postmarked from the North Pole?

No. Santa’s letter comes on North Pole letterhead, but it travels like any other letter: USPS First-Class, with an ordinary postmark and return address. We never fake a postmark.

Do holiday cards have tracking?

No. Cards and $3 letters are mailed First-Class without a tracking number; we email you when they are mailed. Certified letters and flat orders come with tracking.

Can I mail cards outside the US?

Not yet. Holiday cards and letters mail to addresses in the United States, including APO/FPO addresses.

Do you keep my address list?

We use your list only to print and mail your cards. We never sell it or use it for marketing. Read our privacy policy.

What if a card is wrong or never arrives?

Write to us at hello@holidaysbymail.com with your order number. A person reads every message. See our refund policy.
